A Post for Weary People

I’ve been traveling for what seems like forever! My relationships are on autopilot. School is just around the corner at our house. And I’m still unpacking boxes, trying to get us settled into our new home.

I’m running on fumes.

Can you relate? Do you find yourself in seasons where you’ve run yourself ragged and you just want a moment to catch your breath?

If you’re breathing I imagine you can relate, or have been able to at some point.

So many things we invest in are good. Serving, loving, living – it’s good. But it’s not enough to blaze forward without moments of rest, and refilling.

Today if you find yourself in that place take a moment to sit still. Quiet your thoughts, slow your breathing. Maybe enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. And listen. Listen to what God has for you, in this moment.

1 O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!
Your glory is higher than the heavens.
2 You have taught children and infants
    to tell of your strength,
silencing your enemies
    and all who oppose you.

3 When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—
the moon and the stars you set in place—
4 what are mere mortals that you should think about them,
human beings that you should care for them?
5 Yet you made them only a little lower than God
and crowned them[e] with glory and honor.
6 You gave them charge of everything you made,
putting all things under their authority—
7 the flocks and the herds
    and all the wild animals,
8 the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea,
and everything that swims the ocean currents.

9 O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!

Psalm 8

Planets spin and hum, the humpback whale sings his song coursing the ocean, tiny flowers bloom on alpine slopes, God needs no assistance or favors. Yet he has plans for his children to join him in filling this world with his glory. It’s his delight to tell us secrets, and enjoy our praise.

The dishes and meetings, school lists and phone calls will wait. An appointment with Most High God is waiting, open for you, for me.

The dusty, grimy weariness this world lays on our shoulders can only be washed away by the Star Counting Whale Feeder. He’s waiting…

I love a good conversation! Share your thoughts and let's get one started!
